A nine-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday night while inside a home in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.
The shooting took place in the 9400 block of South Wallace Street, police said.
After the shooting, the boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“Tragically, the 9yr. old child did not survive his injuries,” Chicago police spokesman Tom Ahern stated in a tweet.
Detectives were interviewing witnesses and the investigation was ongoing, police said.
