National Weather Officials expect for temperatures to plunge into the negatives in Northeast Illinois in the upcoming week. Light snow is also expected tonight, with freezing drizzle south of Kankakee River.
Monday’s temperature will be between 9 and 22 degrees, with the morning wind chill between 10 below and 10 above. Tuesday will be between 9 and 19 degrees, with a morning wind chill between 3 below and 11 degrees.
Wednesday will have warmer temperatures, with a low of 21 degrees and a high of 30 degrees.
The city of Chicago provides six community service centers as warming centers when temperatures go under 32 degrees. They are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
