Boy, 12, wounded after gun discharges at South Side gas station – Chicago Tribune newstrendslive



A 12-year-old boy was accidentally shot by a family member handling a weapon early Friday morning at gas station in the Calumet Heights neighborhood , Chicago police said.

Around midnight, the boy was at a gas station in the 1400 block of East 87th Street where a family member was trying to remove a gun from his pants pocket and the weapon discharged, police said.

The boy suffered a graze wound to the left hand, and was taken in good condition to Comers Children’s Hospital.

A handgun was recovered from the scene and detectives were investigating.
