Cops speak with ‘person of interest’ following death of woman, 96, found in Portage Park neighborhood freezer – Chicago Tribune newstrendslive



No charges have been announced but police are speaking with a “person of interest” Wednesday after a 96-year-old woman was found dead in a freezer in the Portage Park neighborhood.

Police responded to the first floor of a home in the 5500 block of West Melrose Street at about 4:35 p.m. Monday, where they discovered the woman unresponsive.

The name of the woman, who was dead on the scene, was not being officially released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

As of Wednesday afternoon, detectives were speaking to a person of interest in the case, which is still considered a death investigation, pending autopsy results, according to Chicago police News Affairs representative Kellie Bartoli

No charges have been filed Bartoli added.
