The votes for House speaker today are taking place against the backdrop of the two-year anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
Over the past two years, 35 people from Illinois have been charged as part of the ongoing investigation into the attack, which prosecutors have described as one of the largest criminal investigations in American history. These are some of Illinois’ accused and convicted.
