A 59-year-old security guard was shot during a bank robbery in the Loop Thursday afternoon, Chicago police said.
An “unknown offender” left a bank in the first block of South Wacker Drive about 3 p.m. when the guard confronted the robber, shot the guard in the arm, police said.
That’s when the guard, using his service weapon, returned fire and the robber fled east on Madison Avenue.
The 59-year-old suffered a graze wound and declined to be taken to a hospital, police said.
No other injuries were known and the guard had the proper paperwork for the gun, police said.
FBI agents were on the scene, said spokesperson Natalie Symonds.
