Several counties under winter weather advisory until 9 p.m. Thursday, officials said – Chicago Tribune newstrendslive



The National Weather Service called a winter weather advisory for Cook, DuPage, Grundy and Will counties that was in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.

Officials were expecting 1 to 4 inches of snow and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch in those areas, as well as gusting winds up to 40 mph. Blowing snow was expected to reduce visibility for commuters.

A flood advisory was in effect from 3 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday as officials expect waves from 10 to 14 feet. Low-lying parks, trails and property along the lakeshore could be affected.

Current temperatures at Midway Airport were at 35 degrees with light rain and fog.
