National Weather Service officials warned of freezing rain Wednesday morning expected to create slippery road conditions for commuters in the morning hours.
The conditions were expected in portions of north central and northeast Illinois, and Northwest Indiana.
Freezing rain was expected to create minor ice accumulations on roads and especially elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses, weather officials said.

Drivers should use caution and make extra stopping distance between vehicles. The temperatures were expected to rise above freezing later Wednesday morning, officials said.
Current temperatures at Midway Airport registered at 35 degrees with a windchill of 26 degrees.
