A 71-year-old man died Sunday after a stolen vehicle with three 13-year-old boys inside crashed into his car, police said.
At 2:30 p.m., a Robbins police officer saw a Kia with a broken driver’s side window traveling north on Kedzie Avenue, police said.
The officer reported the vehicle to dispatch and as he drove in the direction the Kia headed, he noticed smoke from a vehicle accident blocks ahead, police said.
The KIA had crashed into a Ford Taurus, police said, and a 71-year-old man removed from the Ford was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He died at the hospital from his injuries, police said.
The three 13-year-old boys inside the KIA were arrested at the scene, but police said Monday they had all been released to their respective parents.
The Robbins Police Department is working with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office in investigating the fatal crash, police Chief David Sheppard said.
