On Dec. 29, 2021, Bradley police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and Officer Tyler Bailey received a call about barking dogs in the parking lot of a Comfort Inn & Suites in Bourbonnais. Responding to this call would lead to Bailey being seriously wounded and the death of Rittmanic.
In the same place one year later, the family of Rittmanic held a candlelight vigil in the parking lot of the hotel to honor her passing.
